An
emanation of Amitabha, his Sanskrit name is Avalokiteshvara, He Who
Gazes With an Unwavering Eye. His white body represents the cool,
peaceful nature of the compassion of all the buddhas. He holds a
wish-fullfilling jewel with his two center hands indicating his
intention to fulfill the desires of every sentient being. In his other
right hand he holds a crystal mala, drawing all beings to enlightenment
and reminding them to recite his mantra. In his other left hand he
holds the stem of an utpala flower representing his stainless and pure
motivation to lead all beings, past, present and future, to
enlightenment.
